Thursday, January 8th : In protest against the ongoing Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip activists in Montreal have taken action at the Israeli Consulate in Montreal.
Serving a detailed eviction notice to the Israeli Consulate in Montreal demonstrators demanded “the eviction of the Consulate of Israel, the expulsion of the Consular General and an immediate end to the Israeli assault on Gaza.”
Effectively shutting down daily operations at the Israeli Consulate this morning activists served an eviction notice and successfully shut-down the daily operations at the Consulate.
In solidarity with the 1.5 million people in Gaza demonstrators in Montreal are demanding an end to Israel’s military assault, the 18-month siege on the Gaza Strip and to allow humanitarian aid into the territory.
“Canada’s lack of response to recent war crimes in Gaza speaks volumes about their support for Israeli apartheid,” said Sophie Schoen, a spokesperson for the action.
Protesters are outraged at Israel’s latest assault on the Palestinian people and by the Canadian government’s refusal to condemn these massacres that have left 700 dead and over 3000 wounded since December 27, 2008.
In the past 24 hours Israeli has bombarded three U.N. schools in Gaza killing dozens of internally displaced refugees inside Gaza.
“We demand the Canadian government cut all ties with the apartheid regime of Israel,” said Mostafa Henaway of Tadamon! Montreal.
The action in Montreal comes on the heels of countless protests worldwide against Israeli war crimes, including an occupation of the Israeli Consulate in Toronto by Jewish women yesterday.
EVICTION NOTICE
DEFENDANT: Consulate of Israel in Montreal
WHEREBY the tenant of this premise is responsible for war crimes under the fourth Geneva Convention, including ;
* The bombing of the Islamic University in Gaza City, and other civilian infrastructure such as ambulances and mosques;
* The shelling of a U.N. school in the Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza, killing over 40 people, including many children;
* The suffocation of the people of Gaza, through an imposed 18 month siege, effectively cutting-off access to fuel, cooking gas, flour, and other basic necessities;
* The killing of over 700 people, a significant portion who are civilians, during their offensive entitled “Operation Cast Lead” which began on December 27th, 2008.
THEREFORE, we as concerned resident of Montreal demand:
* The eviction of the Consulate of Israel, the expulsion of the Consular General, and an immediate end to the Israeli assault on Gaza.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, this gives us hope, we can’t do anything about our lackey toady Brown but we will take this on board and it will give us strength. Of course, Brown will be out very soon

تعليق pam hardyment — 8 janvier 2009 @ 14:39I agree this is great news from Canada, though British news media seem to be ignoring it, as they have the demos in Tel Aviv and elsewhere. Still, people are learning.
As for Brown, I doubt whether he will be going that soon, but even if he does none of the likely successors are expected to change anything. Meanwhile I see Private Eye reports that Britain has supplied Israel with military aero engines and other equipment which is helping the bombing of Gaza.
تعليق Charlie Pottins — 8 janvier 2009 @ 15:18We should demand the government stops this, but we should not wait. Unfortunately our union leaders are too busy collaborating with government and will probably be reluctant to do anything which might harm jobs in the arms and aerospace industry – the only industries our governments have looked after. Besides, we have been conditioned by years of legislation and abiding by it and victimisation of militants, not to take industrial action. But any action that interferes with these strategic links is justified. Fuck the law and the government.

تعليق Imane — 8 janvier 2009 @ 20:20Great Job…I think all Israeli Consulates needed to be served and all the ambassadors for Israel need to be sent out . I agree with a all out boycott of Israel and also the corporations that support Israel. if Governments like Canada really cared and stood for humanity and human rights they would take the lead in this movement.
تعليق Danny D — 8 janvier 2009 @ 22:30This protest is very well done, and the message clear and critical. But how far-reaching is is it? Is the consulate office still shut down? Do the protesters continue to occupy it? And will they occupy the offices of those in the government who require public pressure to compel them to take action?
تعليق shellyk — 9 janvier 2009 @ 13:23I agree that this is indeed brilliant. We need to let the world know that what is happening inside Gaza is State Terrorism, and therefore Israel should cease and desist from such an egregious act. The United Nations need to have more ‘Teeth,’ enough with the talking, get some serious work done immediatley to put an end to the carnage that is happpening.

GAZA

This is ridiculous! Hamas is a terrorist organization. Their sole purpose is to eliminate Israel. Israel is defending herself against terrorists. Civilians have died, but the difference is that Israel does not target civilians (to the contrary of Hamas). Life is cheap in Hamas’ eyes, they use Palestinians (who they claim to protect) as human shields and try to maximize the number of dead (so that Israel looks bad). So who is the war criminal?
تعليق Chaim — 15 janvier 2009 @ 1:53This is the same damn excuse over and over again, terrorism, fighting terror, could you please find another excuse that is not as seen and heard on CNN ? Mr. Chaim, here is a breifing, for you to learn a little bit more about history. Israel has always been a country named PALESTINE, in 1948 JEWS with the help of british and rest of western countries have gathered Jews from all over the world, from DIFFERENT NATIONALITIES
in order to ”create” a new country for them. There was no ISRAEL. Creating that country, mean illegally kick out real land owners from their lands and houses, and this is veryyyyyyyy well documented already, so jews kick them out and took over everythings. Ever since Israel has used every single mean in order to expand its territories, have more access to water, and destroy and threat that can be harmful to it or that could oppose it. Just go on google and look at the original map of PALESTINE and extra land ISRAEL has grabbed since. Even the WEST BANK at this moment is probably 1/3 occupied by ISrael. AS if that was not enough, they build a wall and grab some more lands here and there, ans separated the west banks in pieces. Palestinians have no access to water, to air space, in & out the country, and that does not even include the massacres and brutal war crimes its IDF comitted as well as some settlers. Every single story you here about Palestinians and ways they were killed, beaten, even 8 years old kids beaten by soldiers, every story tear my heart apart. If your still sure about your self or your country that is ”Occupied Palestine” which you call ISrael, GUESS WHAT, thousands of those pictures of Israeli forces brutalities are on tape man, i would feel more than glad to give you links we you can go watch them, unfrotunately your fighting the terror propaganda wont work, pictures say’s it all habibi.
After you see those pictures, i would warmly expect an appaulogy from you
As for the rest, your Israeli democratic hehehe yeah, country, destroyed my country that is lebanon. I got stuck there in 2006, and let me tell yah, that only the worst criminals on earth can do what they did to lebanon and what they are doing now to Israel. I have 3 oncles and 2 cousins from close relatives that have lost their homes, and there is absolutely no armed militias or whatsoever in their area, neither was anyone throwing rockets to israel from beirut suburb.
Gaza is the same story again, months and months of suffocating a population already poor and living in misery, cutting them essential needs, kidnap people here and there, kill here and there and every single crime you can find is used by the IDF.
So, where is their own right to defend themselves Mr. CHAIM ? If they throw rocks, they get killed, so please please please just stop using that same old excuse, it just doesnt work anymore……..as simple as that.
Let me ask you another question, me as an Arab i would like to get an answer to.
How can you offer peace and give land to Palestinians, when that little little tiny peave of land they have left (west bank) is seeing Settlements houses being build again and again ? What is your answer to that my Peace loving man.
Israelis have rigth to live in Peace ? Of course they do. Not at the expense of others, not on top of childrens bodies, not by destroying an entire nation and its people…… Palestinians, lebanese, particularly, are such loving people, such innocent people, that was unfortunately not the way to threat them, some of them, will not sit and will try to defend themselves, and this is a vicious cirlce that wil never end. Occupied Palestine had enough place to have all Palestinians in and outside Palestine, as well as Jews & others to live in that same country…….. they could’ve, but when you have such a sionist people starving for land,water,money,power, they just never seem happy with what they have, and greed makes you commit the worst crimes you can imagine.
Before Israelis from and invade Palestine, our countries were full of happy people, farmers, children, peaceful families, even arms barely were present, the notion of terror didnt even exsist……. that’s when things changed,
Think twice about what you say, and again dont forget to change that sentence we hear everyyyyyyyyy single day on tv channels……….
تعليق Fadi — 17 janvier 2009 @ 2:33and get a little more knowledge about the black history of first israelis that invaded palestine……….
@ Chaim, shame on him….
Nobody here defends Hamas, but he defends Israel, terrorist and criminal state. Shame on him….
Hamas did not exist in 1948 and before 1948, when Israelis killed and massacred a lot of people and destroyed a lot of villages and invaded a lot of Palestinian cities. He is here to justify the Israel’s crimes. Shame on him again….
The Israelis hate Arabs, they want to kill them and exterminate them, to settle their lands and country, and they learnt that in their Zionism (like Nazism). They want to occupy the rest of the Palestinian country. Their God asked them to do that, to steal the country of others and kill them.
Can he answer to this question?
WHY does NOT Israel WANT to GIVE the INDEPENDENCE to Palestinians?
تعليق Ali — 17 janvier 2009 @ 20:15Why does Israel persist the conflict? Why does Israel continue to occupy Palestine? Why does Israel continue to build the settlements in West Bank?
@Chaim, another question for him:
He said that Israel does not target Palestinian civilians, I said to him “welcome to the Earth”, I think that he was in another Planet and he just arrives. Who does kill palestinian people? who does destroy their houses? Who does target hospitals, ambulances, mosques, cemetery, schools and UN buildings? are they Chinese or Colombian people ? No..
Is he kidding or stupid? I ask his conscience and humanity to say that Israel is killing civilians. It’s horrible what Israel is doing now in Gaza, Israel targets people, Mosques, hospitals, children, women, schools, UN buildings, dead, cemetery and injured people. Shame on him, when he (Chaim) said that civilians protect Hamas. We know and are accustomed with these lies, he should find another justifications.
The war criminal is Israel. Israel is a state not an organization and has some duties to respect the UN resolutions and human rights and his duty is to give Palestine his independence for a real peace. Then Hamas will not be able to target Israel, because Palestine will be a state, a respectable state, free and sovereign state. The state of Palestine will prevent and punish any agression against Israel. Palestine will coexist with Israel. Does he (Chaim) accept this state of Palestine? I don’t think so.
