Thousands gathered in downtown Montreal yesterday to protest Israel’s ongoing military siege on Gaza hours after Israeli forces commenced a major land invasion. As over 500 Palestinians have been killed in the past week under an Israeli aerial bombardment protests have swept across the world including major demonstrations in Canada. Demonstrators in Montreal also targeted the Canadian government support for Israeli military actions in Gaza which have heavily targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, the “the civilian population have been exposed to incessant horror, [while the] suffering of Gaza civilians continues due to the denial of their economic, social and cultural rights, in addition to their civil and politic rights, as in the peak of the ongoing grave escalation of war crimes that being committed by Israel, the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is getting worse and worse.”
Demonstrations are set to continue in Montreal over the upcoming weeks, as protests continue to sweep the globe in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza who now face a major ground invasion by Israeli military forces.
