In response to the ongoing Israeli bombardment on Gaza, Tadamon! is calling on people to directly contact Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lawrence Cannon.

Please take a couple minutes to directly call the offices for both the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to demand: that Canada call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, a cessation of the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza and for Canada to address the root cause for the current violence: Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory and the denial of the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

It is critical that people actually take the time to call the offices, as through flooding the offices with calls in the hundreds we can illustrate better the popular rage in Montreal and across Canada towards the Conservative government’s ongoing complicity towards Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

Contacts for both the Prime Minster and Minister of Foreign Affairs are outlined below, please write to us to let us know about your efforts to call the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs offices, send an email report to ‘info@tadmaon.ca’ and please pass-on the word.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister and Mr. Minister of Foreign Affairs,

I am writing to express my outrage at the callous statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lawrence Cannon, in the face of a massacre of over 400 Palestinians in the past week that Israel has a “right to defend itself.” I ask you Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, does this ‘right’ extend to the commission of war-crimes? Does it extend to the bombing of civilians and civilian targets? When will you clearly / unequivocally condemn Israeli state violence against Palestinians?

Do Palestinian civilians not figure in your calculations? Do Palestinians not also have the right to defend themselves? Will the Minister stand for Palestinian rights, or will he only continue the established pattern of this government to serve as a champion and apologist for Israeli apartheid?

The violence in Gaza must stop. Canada must call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. Canada must also call for a cessation of the ongoing Israeli siege of Gaza, which has resulted in the collective punishment of the entire Gaza population. Finally, Canada must aggressively address the root cause of the violence: Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory and the denial of the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

Sincerely,

cc. Hon. Lawrence Cannon,Minister of Foreign Affairs

La lettre d’indignation a été envoyé. Cependant, j’ai remarqué une légère faute de frappe pour le mail du site: il est écrit “info@tadmaon.ca” au lieu de “info@tadamon.ca”
