Denounce Israeli massacres of civilians at U.N. schools.

Demand Concordia and all universities in Canada cut all ties with Israeli apartheid!

    WEDNESDAY JANUARY 7th 12h00
    Corner MacKay and de Maisonneuve
    (metro Guy-Concordia)
    Montreal, Quebec

An open call to gather in downtown Montreal to denounce the Israeli attack on U.N. shelters in Gaza over the past 24 hours. A gathering in solidarity with Gaza to call on students in Montreal and across Canada to join the international movement to boycott Israeli apartheid.

In the past day, over 130 Palestinians have been killed, including many women and children who lost their lives when an Israeli tank opened fire outside a U.N.-run school in Gaza. Throughout the past week over 600 Palestinians have lost their lives in the massive Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip. Thousands of Palestinians have taken shelter inside U.N. buildings throughout Gaza and are now being directly targeted by the Israeli military.

Schools run by the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) have opened their doors to provide shelters for thousands of Palestinians who have fled their homes. Israeli government and military officials has been informed of this fact by the UNRWA representatives in Gaza.

Israel has a history of attacking U.N. shelters holding civilians. In Qana, south Lebanon, the Israeli army massacred over 100 civilians when they bombed UN shelters in 1996. This deliberate war crime was repeated in 2006 when Israel again bombed U.N. buildings protecting civilians.

Today we call on the Canadian Government to condemn this grave war crime, as any justification for this despicable act perpetuated by the Israeli military will only signal that the Conservative government views Palestinian live as subhuman.

Also we call on students to join the growing international movement in solidarity with Gaza and also reaffirm our commitment in the strongest possible terms to continue mobilizing friends and allies in other progressive social movements to respond to the call by over 170 Palestinian civil society organizations for a comprehensive campaign of boycott, sanctions and divestment (BDS).
