Ground breaking musicians and artists from Montreal took the stage on Sunday, April 12th for the seventh edition of Artists Against Apartheid at La Sala Rossa, occurring within the international campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israeli apartheid and in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for liberation.
Only months after the latest Israeli military attack on the Gaza Strip which civilian infrastructure destroyed across Gaza, Palestinian universities bombed and over 1300 Palestinian civilians dead, there are clear indications of a growing cultural movement in solidarity with Palestine around the world. In Montreal the latest edition of Artists Against Apartheid featured Jazz musicians Claude Maheu and Nicholas Calloia, poet Kaie Kellough, singer / songwriter Molly Sweeney, the Iranian musical duo Advaar and improvisational music from Malcolm Goldstein and Lori Freedman.
