The sixth annual Israeli Apartheid Week is back again in Montreal, and will be featuring events on three campuses in the city from March 4 to 11.

Every year for the last six years, many cities (43 cities participated last year) around the world join together to coordinate this week, which focuses on the growing campaign of boycotts, divestments and sanctions against the state of Israel. And this year, like every year in the past, pro-Israel apologists respond with campaigns which range from outright offensive to bizarre and puzzling.

Artistes contre l’apartheid israélien: Montréal, le 25 février 2010

Des artistes montréalais lancent un appel pour appuyer la campagne internationale de Boycottage, Désinvestissement et Sanctions contre l’apartheid israélien.

Aujourd’hui, un vaste éventail d’artistes se mobilise pour appuyer la campagne internationale de plus en plus large, appelant au boycottage, au désinvestissement et à des sanctions contre l’État d’Israël : la campagne BDS. L’hiver dernier, Israël lança un assaut militaire violent contre le peuple palestinien de la bande de Gaza avec un bilan de 1400 morts dont 300 enfants. Malgré la fin officielle des opérations militaires, le blocus de Gaza persiste à ce jour.

Il y a plus de 60 ans commença la Nakba (catastrophe en arabe) des Palestiniens, forçant des centaines de milliers d’entre eux à s’exiler de la Palestine historique lors de la création d’Israël en 1948. Aujourd’hui, des artistes montréalais affirment leur solidarité avec le combat pour la justice et la liberté du peuple palestinien.

I signed the call for sanctions against the state of Israel because of Operation Cast Lead, the incursion and blockade of Gaza, which targeted hospitals, water wells and thousands of Palestinian homes, because of the F-14 and F-16 fighter jets and Apache attack helicopters used against a defenseless civilian population, because of the hundreds of children killed in those attacks, because of the on-going series of targeted assassinations which are extra-judicial killings, which are simply murder, because of the Israeli refusal to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, because of the on-going blockade of the Gaza Strip which deprives 1.5 million people of food, fuel and basic medical supplies,

Carleton students have released a report detailing how the Carleton University Pension fund invests in companies involved in violations of human rights and of international law.

The report was created by Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA Carleton), who are launching a campaign to end Carleton’s unethical investments and adopt a socially responsible investment policy.

Dear Friends and Supporters, It has been two months now since I was handcuffed, blindfolded and taken from my home. Today news has reached Ofer Military Prison that the apartheid wall on Bil’in’s land will finally be moved and construction has begun on the new route. This will return half of the land that was stolen from our village. For those of us in Ofer, imprisoned for our protest against the wall, this victory makes the suffering of being here easier to bear. After actively resisting the theft of our land by the Israeli apartheid wall and settlements every week for five years now, we long to be standing along side our brothers and sisters to mark this victory and the fifth anniversary of our struggle.

du 4 au 11 mars 2010 – Montréal

Joignez-vous au regroupement de quarante villes à travers le monde à l’occasion de la 6e semaine internationale contre l’apartheid israélien (SAI). Une semaine remplie de conférences, ateliers, projections de films et d’évènements culturels afin de vous familiariser avec les enjeux du conflit israélo-palestinien ainsi que pour donner de l’ampleur à l’élan grandissant de la campagne de boycott, désinvestissement et sanctions (BDS) contre l’apartheid israélien. appel à votre solidarité financière et un soutien de Tadamon

L’année 2009 a été caractérisée par un effort intense et soutenu, ainsi que par plusieurs réalisations pour le collectif Tadamon! Montréal. Nous entamons à présent les mois d’automne avec un ordre du jour rempli d’événements et d’initiatives et avec la perspective de réalisations futures. Nous faisons appel aussi aux partisans, amis et sympathisants de Tadamon! pour leur demander de faire preuve de solidarité financière.

L’activisme de Tadamon se concentre sur la lutte pour la justice sociale, la libération et l’égalité pour les peuples de la Palestine, du Liban et du Moyen-Orient en général. Ce travail s’effectue à travers un effort collectif. Il implique ceux qui œuvrent dans le cadre de notre travail régulier de planification et d’organisation, mais aussi ceux qui participent aux événements publics de Tadamon et qui suivent le travail de Tadamon et fournissent un appui sous forme de contributions financières.

In the highest profile arrest of the recent wave of repression against West Bank popular struggle, Israeli soldiers arrested Mohammed Khatib today before dawn. Khatib is a member of Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlement in the West Bank village of Bil’in and the coordinator of the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee.
