Tadamon presents as part of QPIRG Mcgill’s Culture shock series:

    Wednesday, October 17th – 6pm
Lev Bukhman room, SSMU Building 3480 McTavish (metro Peel)

Tadamon! (solidarity in Arabic) is giving an interactive workshop that looks at the true nature of Israel as an Apartheid state. The workshop will offer an understanding of the issue as one of colonizer and colonized, rather than a conflict between two equal sides.

The workshop presents the reality of Israel as colonial project which has created an Apartheid situation for Palestinians living in the occupied territories, for the Palestinian refugees who cannot return to their homes, and Palestinians living inside the state of Israel.

The workshop will also focus on how we can build effective movements for justice in Palestine through Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaigns on our campuses here in Montreal. Similar to that of successful/ongoing divestment campaigns at Hampshire College, UC Berkeley, Carleton University, and the University of Johannesburg, a group of students, faculty and community members in Montreal have started to organize a campaign to sever the links between the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and Concordia and McGill University. Several months ago, this group published a report entitled “Structures of Oppression” that outlines the ‘strong bilateral student exchange programs, joint research projects, and collaborative scholarships’ that Concordia/McGill share with Technion in Haifa.
