Shame on the organisers of the Quebec regional Raymond Mourad Championship that have forbid the girls to participate in the tournament!
It is surely not the first time that girls wearing a hijab participate in sports or martial arts activities in Quebec, so why is it only now that they are not allowed to participate? ENOUGH racism against Arabs and Muslims, how can people be so silent and passive about this? Is it NOT enough that Canada is actively participating along with the US and other world powers in a so-called ‘War on Terror’ in Afghanistan, Iraq, carrying on war crimes and militarily occupying these countries in the Middle East? Is it NOT enough that Canada is fully supporting Israel in its occupation, dispossession and ethnic cleansing of the palestinian people AND of its previous destruction of Lebanon and murder of Lebanese civilians?? Is it NOT enough that it is BECAUSE of these wars fully supported by Canada, being waged on the people in the Middle East that so many people from that region are forced to flee and come and seek refuge in Canada? And now these people are being discriminated against here?
Many members of these comnunities have been living in Quebec for more than a generation and should feel free to believe in what they want and to wear whatever they want to wear, It is time that people in Montreal and Quebec publicly stand in solidarity with the communities that are being discriminated against like this and oppose these racist judgements!

Hello. I am Ferddy.I am from Ecuador. I have practiced T.K.D. since 1999. I think that the girls have the same rights that the boys in all the sports and they are very good fighters. For this reason, I congratulate you and continue practicing this wonderful sport, please.

This should be the Quebec Taekwondo Federation’s fault. They have more power in what happen’s in competitions plus how the the organizer of this tornament manages it. If they didn’t stop the organizer then they did a bad job. How about the future competitions plus the bigger competitions in Quebec? What will the organizer and federation do? I blame the federation in not telling the peolple the rules in competitions and do stupid, false, and unacceptable thing to make these things happen.
