Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) and the Arab Students Law Association (ASLA) are pleased to host a series on political prisoners’ rights in Palestine featuring human rights defender Ala’ Jaradat of Addameer.
Mr.Jaradat’s discussion aims to address Israel’s widespread use of administrative detention, ill-treatment and Incarceration of children and the heightened levels of criminalization against Palestinian, international and Israeli human rights defenders seeking to advance Palestinian rights in the OPT and Israel. Moreover, Mr. Jaradat lecture will expose the systematic forms of human rights abuses of Palestinian prisoners’ rights and will highlight the many failures of the Israeli military courts system.
Ala Jaradat has been actively campaigning against political repression, arbitrary detention, the use of isolation and torture for nearly 15 years. As part of his work on civil and political rights, Ala has also been a strong advocate for the rights of Palestinian refugees. Ala first joined Addameer in 1996 and has since then been involved with the organization as a volunteer, member of the General Assembly and staff member. Over the course of these years, Ala gained extensive knowledge of the Israeli military court system and international legal standards.

Under Stephen Harper, Canada has become Zionist Occupied country. There is not much hope for Ottawa taking an unbaised action on the Israel-Palestinian issues even after losing its change for a seat at the UN Security Council last month.
