A benefit film screening to raise funds for the upcoming cross-Canada tour from Palestinian activists from Bil’in, Palestine to mobilize support for the ongoing village protests against Israel’s apartheid wall.
Bil’in, a Palestinian village in the West Bank, has become an internationally celebrated symbol of Palestinian popular resistance to the ongoing construction of the Israeli apartheid wall.
Bil’in Habibti is a film from Israeli activist Shai Carmeli-Pollak who follows the struggle in Bil’in for over a year and has produced a eye-catching documentary on contemporary popular struggle in Palestine.
Bil’in Habibti focuses on two central figures: Mohamed, from the Bil’in Popular Committee, and Wagee, a farmer and father who is losing the majority of his land to the barrier and to Israeli settlements.
Since 2005, villagers have led weekly protests, with the active participation from both Israeli and international solidarity activists, in opposition to illegal Israeli colonization or annexation of Palestinian land.
Bil’in my Love / Bil’in Habibti won the Wolgin Award for Full-length Documentary Film; at The Jerusalem International Film Festival 2006 and received an honorable mention for – ‘Movies That Matter Award’; at Rotterdam Film Festival 2007.
